This class is designed to meet the needs of students hoping to learn practical Japanese for immediate use in the real world as opposed to grammar.
Our text is characterized by the following points:
*Instead of grammar, phrases and their function within a conversation are written out to help students learn natural sounding Japanese.
*Units are composed of several different elements in accordance with their interests.
*Conversation drills are presented separately from grammatical explanations to help students easily understand both practical exercises and the workings of the Japanese language.
*Each unit contains a variety of practice exercises to help students naturally acquire target phrases and expressions.
the Real Okinawa experience
We also offer the opportunity for our students taking both English and Japanese courses to interact, in our “Exchange Classes”.
Our language exchange takes students who speak different languages and engages them in practicing each other's language.
In a language exchange you practice more than you would in a class, talking with native speakers of the language you're learning, in a relaxed and supportive environment where there is patience and time to understand.
A language exchange is also a wonderful way to learn the real spoken language of the culture, with all its "modern" grammar, informal expressions and slang.
Our language exchange is a fantastic way to bridge the gap between classroom learning and communicating in the real world!
When learning to speak another language you need the right kind of practice - and lots of it!
And last but not least, one of our favorite and most convenient tools used is the Slack App.
This free App can be downloaded on both your phone and computer and is a perfect way to communicate with your classmates and teachers at any time and from anywhere.
Perfect for the soldier on temporary duty travel, or if you have to miss a class due to work, sickness, emergency, etc.
You can message your fellow classmates or teachers about any assignments or lessons you may have missed, and you will never feel out of the loop because of a missed class.
Slack is such a beneficial part of our program because it gives our students the means to practice Japanese with each other outside of class.
It’s also a great way to get to know and chat with your classmates to find out which festivals they love to attend, about the best places to eat, or get recommendations for the best hiking spots in Okinawa!
The Slack is our main communication app among students and teachers where you can ask questions about the class or while you're studying Japanese at home,
You can also tell us when you'll be late to the class or you won't be able to make it.
Since we share the informations of Japanese learning hints and practice conversations in Japanese on Slack, We strongly recommend to install both on your phone and on your computer.
So that you can send instant messages on your phone and you can self-study on your computer with links and helpful resources we share to help you study at home.
